This weekend we have lived the excitement of the Giro di Lombardia, raced between Varese and Como, with 242 kilometres. The victory has been for the Belgian rider Gilbert, while our sponsored rider Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel Euskadi), has been second.
Samuel Sanchez was very active and brave in the way he planned the race, but could not beat the great moment Gilbert is prooving to have. "I have felt very well during the whole race. I have made my move in Civiglio in order to make the selection. Unluckily, some guys have been able to come back to the leading group in the downhill and the selection has been done in San Fermo. In those ramps the strongest have stayed together. It is always a shame not to get the victory, but with such a rider together in the break it was difficult. Racing in the Vuelta has made lose weight and, therefore, I have lost some speed in the sprints", explained Sanchez after the race.
