Catlike Helmet Sakana gets iF Product Design Award
The Catlike Sakana model was selected to compete for the prestigious iF Product Design Award which is awarded annually by the International Forum Design in Hanover.
A total of 2,808 products from 39 countries were registered in 16 categories – and Catlike has just been informed that the Sakana has been chosen as one of the award winners in the Leisure & Lifestyle category.
The Sakana and all the other award winning products will be on show next year at the Hannover Exhibition Centre. The products will all be on display from the CeBIT opening on March 3rd right through until August when the iF jurors will announce which of them will be further honoured with Gold and Silver awards.
Sakana has been awarded because of the excellent design which is bundled with modern and safe technology.
Developed and patented by Catlike, the Sakana uses innovative “Air Tube System” technology which reinforces and lightens the whole structure.
About 300,000 visitors are expected to the exhibition. A perfect spot to promote this new design Catlike is so proud of.

Catlike signs deal with Xacobeo-Galicia for the next 2 seasons
The 2008 season is rapidly coming to its end – and as for the sponsorship deals Catlike has managed to finalise an agreement with Xacobeo-Galicia team for the next 2 seasons. Therefore, the riders are included in what was the sensation team in the last Vuelta a España, will keep on using the Catlike helmets in 2009 and 2010.
"Xacobeo-Galicia has shown how a structure with a humble budget can be up there in front. Sacrifice and perseverance are, with no doubt, the key of that success. These values are also very important in our company", pointed out Pepe del Ramo, Catlike CEO.
High performance wheels are back in the UK
Gipiemme has a long history in the Italian bicycle industry. The original company was founded in Milan in 1964 and was one of the very first manufacturers of cycle groupsets responsible for a number of early innovations and manufacturing techniques.
The factory started working with Campagnolo and in 1974 it relocated to Vicenza Vancimulio Italy.
As a component manufacturer in the 80s the company first started to produce a range of professional saddles and then progressed to create high quality wheels for track and time trial use.
As a true specialist manufacturer Gipiemme have revolutionized cycle wheel design in a number of ways..
- In the early 80s we were among the very earliest manufacturers to develop glass fiber wheels
- In 1982 we pioneered the use of the “lenticolare” aerodynamic shape – an innovation that’s still in extensive use today (by us and also by many of our competitors)
- In 1984 we created the first wheels made entirely from Carbon Fiber.
- In 1989 we started the production of composite wheels with spokes made from aluminium and carbon. The application of aeronautical technology to bicycle wheels had begun!
- In 1999 we continued the innovation with our first range of CNC lightened wheels and also the first wheels with grouped spokes - pairs, triples and quadruples.
Now for the 2009 the company has once again expanded its offer with a new UK specific range of wheels and accessories. All rims, wheels and saddles made by Gipiemme are produced on site at our factory in Loria, Northern Italy.
GIPIEMME (pronounced GPM) is derived from “Gran Premion della Montagna” – which is the name of the prize given to the winner of the mountains classification in Italian road races (including the Giro D’Italia).

Catlike Fusion Super Wing – the newest range for 2009
